EMDR & ART

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence based therapy developed to help people process traumatic, distressing, or overwhelming experiences that continue to affect them in the present.

EMDR is most commonly associated with trauma and PTSD, but it can also be helpful for anxiety, panic, intrusive memories, shame, emotional overwhelm, negative self beliefs, and experiences where the nervous system still feels stuck long after the event itself has passed.

Unlike traditional talking therapy, EMDR works more directly with the way memories, emotions, body sensations, and beliefs are stored and processed by the brain and nervous system.

My approach to EMDR is relational, paced, and trauma informed. Preparation and stabilisation are an important part of the work, particularly for clients with complex trauma or longstanding emotional difficulties.

I am currently undertaking an accredited EMDR pathway towards practitioner level, alongside ongoing consultation and wider trauma focused professional development.

EMDR sessions are currently available. Contact me for more information.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a trauma focused psychotherapy that works with distressing memories, images, sensations, and emotional responses. It uses guided eye movements alongside imagery based techniques to help reduce the emotional intensity connected to traumatic or overwhelming experiences.

ART is often experienced as more directive and image focused than traditional talking therapy. Many clients find it particularly helpful where distress is strongly connected to visual memories, flashbacks, recurring mental images, nightmares, or experiences that continue to feel emotionally “stuck”.

ART may be helpful for trauma, anxiety, panic, phobias, grief, intrusive imagery, performance anxiety, and distress linked to past experiences.

My initial ART training has been completed in Germany, through the Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery and the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (IS-ART).

ART sessions are currently available. Contact me for more information.

As with all trauma-focused work, my approach remains paced, relational, and grounded in stabilisation and readiness.
